About Patricia

I was born and raised in San Diego, California, and am the daughter of Mexican immigrants.
I’m the eighth of nine children.

I am the proud mother of Isaac & Deborah and I’m “Lita” (short for “Abuelita”) to the brilliant Judy Violet.
(Judy was quite sleepy this day.)

Education
Kindergarten through fifth grade: Bayside Elementary School.

Sixth Grade: Sunnyslope Elementary & my first novel about a pony titled “Little One.”
My love of ponies probably began when a photographer made the rounds with this pony.
That’s Papá holding me steady.

Southwest Jr. High and more frenzied diary writing.
I began with the small pink book but had a lot to say.
So I made my own, bigger diaries with remnants of Mamá’s sewing projects.
These are three of the many volumes I have.

Montgomery High School and absolutely no one allowed to read my diaries—I mean NO ONE!

UC San Diego, B.A. in Spanish & English Literature and UC Los Angeles, M.A. in Comparative Literature
